Fa uns quants anys em van canviar els mobles de l’habitació.  El meu moble preferit és la prestatgeria.  Més de 4 metres quadrats. Dotze prestatges d’un metre de llarg per 33,5 cm d’alt per uns 39 cm de profunditat.

La recorde, tan gran, tan buida. Els dos primers llibres me’ls vaig apropiar dels de casa, Cien años de Soledad i Paula. Díes després s’afegiren La voz dormida, Ensayo sobre la ceguera i Sueños en el umbral, ja comprats per mi.

Ara tinc 4 prestatges als quals els llibres van de banda a banda. Quatre metres de llibres, sense comptar els que estan en les respectives segones files.

I com continue comprant-me llibres, ja tinc més de pam i mig deixats damunt d’altres llibres o apilats, esperant a que reorganitze el monstre i obriga un cinqué prestatge.

P.S.: Avui m’ha arribat, entre altres, el darrer llibre de William Gibson. A les primeres pàgines hi ha una llista dels seus llibres. Resulta que els tinc tots. ^^

Quina transició més llarga. Es nota que sóc de Rafelbunyol i que ací no som especialistes en fer transicions.

Bé, pareix que finalment he conseguit que el domini funcione més o menys. (Ara tinc el maleït index.php molestant-me, però pareix que és cosa del server.)

Tinc molts projectes en les mans. I vull començar a escriure al respecte. Espere tornar a escriure prompte.

Again. S’acava el xollo. La promoció de 1&1 arriba a la seua fi, així que tornem a buscar hosts gratuïts. Als pròxims dies el blog pot desaparèixer temporalment. I per l’any vinent, disseny nou. En certa manera. O algo, ja vorem. I potser hi hagen novetats més sovint. O no.

Repàs general: Estic fent la meua tesi de màster (començant-la) i estic content i motivat. Estic perdent kilos diria que a raó de uno per setmana o així. L’estiu: he tingut vacances! (cosa que no passava des de que vaig començar la carrera). I poc més.

Something happen to a windows Master Boot Record (MBR) that you’re responsible for? Want a very quick, very easy way to restore it with nothing but your craft, native intelligence and a liveCD?

Be cautious here – you’re working with your disks in a very direct manner. If you don’t have everything backed up or are unsure of anything, you may want to wait until you have a standard Windows CD/DVD.

Boot into your Ubuntu LiveCD on the offending machine. Once Ubuntu starts up, go to System -> Administration -> Software Sources and enable (by checking it off) the Universal repository.

Now, open a terminal session (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and type the following:

sudo apt-get install ms-sys

ms-sys is a program used to write Microsoft compatible boot records.

Now you’ll need to figure out what partition is the one hosting your Windows operating system. Back in the command line, type:

sudo fdisk -l

That will list the available partitions. You’re looking for a partition that says something like

/dev/sda1 1 9327 74919096 83 NTFS

The two important bits are the ‘/dev/sda1‘ which is the partition itself and the ‘NTFS‘ which tells us it’s a Windows formatted partition. So your Windows partition exists on your drive sda and it’s partition 1. The MBR for drive sda (assuming you boot into windows using it’s native boot loader) is what you want to repair.

We want to fix the MBR on /dev/sda. To do so, type:

sudo ms-sys -m /dev/sda

You’ll want to change the ’sda’ bit if your results from ‘fdisk -l‘ are different. If for instance your windows install is on sdb or hda.

Once you do that, reboot the machine, removing the LiveCD from the drive and Windows should come back to you.

Sure, you could do this by inserting the correct Windows CD and booting into repair mode from it – but I find the Ubuntu way a bit faster and I’m more likely to have an Ubuntu LiveCD on me than a Windows CD.

In addition, remove string .\O from file /etc/issue to get rid of the annoying unknown_domain in the welcome message “This is host.unknown_domain …”.

Recordatori personal, que està molt de moda.

Hotmail és un asco, pero hi ha molta gent que no s’entera i continua enviant-me correus a eixa adreça. Encara no deixen redireccionar bé, però buscant he trobat finalment aquest article i he decidit copiar i enganxar per a recordar-lo i tenir-hi accés si la pàgina original l’esborra. Passe de traduir. Per a això teniu l’ubiquity (del qual hauré de parlar algun dia)

Not too long ago, the Windows Live Hotmail team decided to add POP3 support for users in countries such as United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. If you are in these lucky countries you can finally stay away from hotmail.com and use your favourite mail client or in this case through Gmail! If you’re not in one of these countries then I guess you’ll just have to wait or try some 3rd party alternatives.

Here are the general settings you need for your mail client when setting up Hotmail for pop3 in your mail client:

POP server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (port 25)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

Inside gmail to add a new mail account follow these instructions.

1. Click on Settings -> Accounts -> Add another mail Account
   
2. Type in your hotmail email address
3. Fill out all the details and make sure you add the “@hotmail.com” or “@live.com” at the end of your username
4. Make sure the second checkbox is also checked, the others are optional
5. Change the port number to 995 or you’ll get an timeout
6. Click “Add Account”

Afterward gmail will ask if you’ll like to setup send-to permissions through gmail for your hotmail account.

Once everything is complete, just sit back and wait for you emails to be downloaded into your gmail!

Recently Cooliris has launched a new version, this time it supports linux and has a nice set of features.

I’ve noticed that it don’t detect flash properly. If you have installed de flash plugin globaly, it will be on

/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so

So the trick is easy: link it to where cooliris looks for it.

mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins
cd ~/.mozilla/plugins
ln -s /usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so libflashplayer.so

Now cooliris won’t display the warning window and you can watch youtube vids on cooliris screen.
